The match between Novak Djokovic vs Roger Federer matched the expectation of every tennis fan. This was the longest Wimbledon final match in the history of Wimbledon. Both Federer and Djokovic battled for 4 hours and 57 minutes and eventually Novak emerged victorious. This was Novak’s 5th WImbledon title and now he has won 16 Grand Slams in total.
The match was played at a very high quality and was very entertaining for the fans. In the whole match, the momentum shifted a lot of times in favour of both players. The first set was very crucial in the context of this match and Novak won it by 7-6. There was no break of serve and the set went into the tiebreaker where Roger was leading 5-3 but then Novak showed why he is World Number 1 and then won four straight points to clinch the set.
Now talking about the second set it was a one sided affair and Federer broke Novak’s serve couple of times and went on to win the set by 6-1.
In the third set, Roger created many opportunities for himself but could’nt quite convert them. In the 10th game of the third set Federer was up a set point but Novak served brilliantly on that point and did’nt let Federer to win the set. After that nervous service hold Novak’s confidence was pretty high. The set went into the tiebreaker and it was a similar story like 1st set Federer going down in the tiebreaker. Novak won the third set by 7-6.
The fourth set was heavily dominated by Roger an he broke Novak’s serve two times and was quickly leading the set by 5-2. The disappointment of 3rd set did’nt affected Federer much and he shifted the momentum completely in his way. Although Novak tried to show some resurgence by reducing Federer’s lead to just one game. But Federer came back strongly and served very well in the tenth game to clinch the set by 6-4
It could be anybody’s game in the final set and it all came down to the big points playing well. In the sixteenth game of the final set there was a big chance for Federer to win his 9th Wimbledon title when he was two match points up on his own serve. But he was’nt able to convert even one match point and losing that game. The score was tied 8-8 in the final set. The match went into a 12-12 tiebreaker. According to the new rule, there will be a tiebreaker if both players are squared at 12-12. Again in the tiebreaker Novak was lucky enough to defeat Federer and win his 6th WImbledon title. The final scoreline was 7-6, 1-6, 7-6, 4-6, 13-12 .

It was a very disappointing end for Federer fans and for Federer hiimself as well because it was the third time that Roger lost to Novak in Wimbledon final. This loss would hurt Federer a lot and it would definitely take time for Federer to recover from this loss.
